Equipment

No printing job is too big or too small.

Our projects range from a 1.5 million copy run of a 2-sided, 4/c product brochure to a 1,000 copy run of a simple black on white flyer. Our preferred range of quantity per job is 1,500 to 30,000 copies for a 1-64 page print job.

25" x 38" 2/c Miller Perfector:

This is a two color press which can either print 2/c on one side (in one pass), or 1/c on both sides (in one pass).

28" x 41" 4/c Miller Perfectors:

These are four color presses which can either print 4/c on one side (in one pass), or 2/c on both sides (in one pass).

26" 5/c Royal Zenith Heatset Web:

This is a five color (half) web press which prints 5/c on both sides at the same time.

Definitions:

Perfector:
Able to print on both sides of the paper in one pass through the press.
Sheetfed:
"Cut sheets" are run through the press. Some common stock sizes are: 25 x 38, 23 x 35, 17-1/2 x 23... On sheetfed 4/c jobs, the paper is printed on one side, then turned over and printed on the other side. With the size of our presses, we can get 16 pages onto 1 sheet of paper.
Web:
Web presses print on roll-fed paper that travels continuously through the press. The image printed from a given printing unit is transferred to the paper with each revolution of the printing plate. Basically, a web press is a system consisting of a roll stand to hold the unprinted paper roll, a printing unit, and a folding unit. Additional printing units are used to print the other colors of ink on the same web.

Two examples of our Web Presses at work:

Paper is fed from the rolls into the printing units. The top sheet of paper has ink applied to it from the first two units, while the bottom sheet has ink applied to it from the last two units.

The top roll of paper has 4 colors applied to it as it passes through the first 4 units on the press. The bottom roll of paper bypasses the first 4 units of color and the fifth unit applies ink to the paper.

By having 5 "towers", we can print 5 colors on both sides of the paper. Because the press runs so fast, an "oven" is needed to dry the ink before it goes into the folder. And because the oven heats the paper, a "chiller" is needed to cool the paper. The maximum width of a roll for our press is 26". This allows us to run 8 page forms.
