Trapping

During press runs, misregistration caused by paper stretch creates slight gaps between colors where the white of the paper shows through.

Trapping, for those of you that are unfamiliar with the term, is the process of reducing (choke) or enlarging (spread) abutting colors to create a slight overlap along the edges of the colors. This overlap is called a trap and reduces the problem of misregistration.
